LAPP

Around 300 million street lights are in operation worldwide, accounting for around two per cent of global electricity consumption. The switch to modern and energy-efficient LED street lighting is therefore not surprising. This development is also being felt by a French company that brings light into people’s lives with an annual production of 300,000 lamps for street lighting in countless cities. However, high production density also increases the demands on manufacturing and supply chains.

For its production in the Czech Republic, the French company was looking for a reliable partner who could not only supply the required connection solutions in large quantities, but also offer a customised system solution. This solution had to support seamless integration into the luminaires to ensure efficient and smooth production. The lighting company found the ideal partner in LAPP, the global market leader for integrated solutions and brand products in the field of cable and connection technology.

Customised solution for high requirements

The requirements for the system were clearly defined: robust, easy-to-install cable assemblies that could withstand the harsh conditions of outdoor use and were also compliant with standards and easy to install. The lighting manufacturer opted for tailor-made LAPP Harnessing Solutions because the advantages were obvious: the ready-to-install system solutions minimise installation errors, reduce complexity and save valuable time in the production process. This ensures maximum process reliability.

LAPP supplied H07RN-F power and control cables for the street lighting, which are characterised by high flexibility and resistance to mechanical stress and weather influences. This makes them ideal for use in LED street lights. The cables are cut to specific lengths, stripped and marked with individual FLEXIMARK® cable markers and delivered ready for installation in the lamp post. ‘This allows our customers to concentrate fully on their unique strengths, because we create the technical conditions and thus take the pressure off them,’ comments Jeroen Bevers, Head of Harnessing Solutions Cluster West.

Service, price and quality convince

One of the decisive factors in favour of LAPP Harnessing Solutions was the high production capacity, which enables LAPP to deliver reliably even with increasing quantities. LAPP also scored points with its comprehensive range of value-added services (VAS). These range from individual packaging solutions and component procurement to end-to-end support along the entire supply chain. Another plus point is the contractually guaranteed fixed prices over a period of twelve months. Against the backdrop of volatile forecasts in the infrastructure sector, this gave the customer a real planning advantage and long-term investment security.

LAPP’s quality and testing processes were also impressive: at the customer’s request, LAPP implemented additional quality controls in production to ensure maximum reliability in the field. Last but not least, LAPP impressed with its customer focus, both in project management and in ongoing communication. Weekly meetings ensured transparency and quick responses, enabling LAPP to deliver the first samples at short notice. The result is a partnership based on mutual respect that continues beyond the project. Celestin Bidot, Sales Expert, LAPP France emphasises: ‘This project clearly shows how our customised assembly expertise can help streamline processes, optimise products and ultimately ensure our customers’ market success. That is what sets LAPP Harnessing Solutions apart.’
