The company, which specialises in plastics technology, was founded in Schaffhausen in 1989 by Siegbert and Andreas Lapp, the sons of company founder Oskar Lapp. Well-qualified specialists, renowned injection mould makers in the region, were the key reason for the decision to establish the LAPP Group’s injection moulding plant in Switzerland. With the relocation to Diessenhofen in 1998, production was gradually expanded. Today, the 60 employees produce over 120 million plastic parts per year and process over 1,000 tonnes of plastic granulate. The highlight of the injection moulding production there: SKINTOP® cable glands.
The introduction of SKINTOP® at the Hannover Messe trade fair in 1978 brought a revolutionary design to the market – a cable gland made of non-metallic material that did not have to be dismantled for installation. The universal systems are quickly ready for use: simply insert the cable, tighten to the recommended torque value and the installation is complete! Today, the diverse range of SKINTOP® cable glands fulfils almost all application requirements with an unrivalled range of materials, designs and continuous innovation.
Innovation and optimisation are the most relevant keywords for the Swiss LAPP colleagues, who attach great importance to their further development. LAPP TEC is continuously expanding its expertise in plastics technology with annual investments totalling millions. In recent months, a great deal has been invested in the flexibility and capacity of production. Holger Fender is Managing Director of the Swiss subsidiary LAPP Swiss AG and has also been Head of LAPP TEC AG since October 2023. He is proud of the latest developments: “We have massively increased our capacities. For example, we have introduced a new assembly line, which corresponds to a 25% increase in automatic assembly capacity. We have years of rapid growth behind us and are now ready for the next steps.”
These steps will lead to more efficient deliveries. “A delivery performance of over 95% must be the standard and we are already well on the way to achieving this,” says Fender.
